Cranberry Tea

I hope everyone's holiday was as nice as mine. We woke up Wednesday morning to more snow, but fortunately we were able to get downtown to see the Broadway traveling production of The Color Purple. It was a wonderful show and a nice way to spend Christmas Eve.

It was snowing on Christmas Day, too. We had another quiet, relaxing day snowed in. Andy prepared an amazing dinner of Duck Breast w/Hoisin Sauce and Apple-Cranberry Crisp for dessert.

Today's chores are done, and I'm sipping a hot mug of Cranberry Tea pondering tomorrow. The recipe is from Paula Johnson. I'm sorry that I don't know who that is, so please leave Comments to let me know. I'm not sure if I interpreted the recipe right, but here's what I did:

  1. Boil the cranberries for 20 minutes.

  2. Strain them so the fruit and the liquid are in separate containers.

  3. To the fruit, add water, 2 cups sugar, 15 whole cloves, and 1/2 cup red cinnamon candies (like Red Hots). Cook for 20 minutes.

  4. Add the liquid back in and heat it. I think I could have skipped step #2.

  5. Serve with lemon & lime juice added.

The tea is wonderful to sip on its own, but I think the fruit would be good on ice cream, too. Why am I thinking about a cranberry martini?
