OK - Feather Biscuits posted under Sunday even thought I cooked and blogged today. I guess it's since that's when I set up the title and saved. I'm learning 'blog' skills trial and error.

"Boy, that Cross Family Cookbook sure is feeeding us well," said Andy as he finished his meal of Aunt Betty's egg dish and two kinds of biscuits. He asked what the great spice was in the casserole; we decided it must be the Jimmy Dean sausage. I reluctantly added the mushroom soup this morning, and it turned out to be amazing.
Since I had successfully made one type of biscuit already this morning and had the ingredients handy and the mess made, I continued on to this Alice (of Burt & Alice) Cross recipe. The quantities of ingredients were slightly different, and this one has an egg and baking soda, but the process was the same. The dough was stickier. I used a water glass as a cutter, so they are larger. And I knew to lower my oven temperature and check them sooner.
Another success. What a treat to have homemade biscuits. There is no substitute. But I have a sad feeling that I won't be doing this regularly, if ever again.

Eight recipes in six days. What fun! It's enough to be committed to finishing, especially since this blog has followers, but a little overwhelming since there are over 150 recipes to go.
A couple administrative things:
- Whenever a recipe says milk, I use nonfat milk by habit. But when a recipe says cream, it will be full fat whipping cream.
- I'm not going to make the recipes for an ingredient because I don't see any recipes that call for those ingredients. I think there are only three - biscuit mix, fruit sauce, and sweetened condensed milk.
I'm going to spend the rest of the week cleaning house and then enjoying the holidays. I plan to do some grocery shopping after Christmas and be cooking again next weekend. I'm looking forward to trying some desserts and more!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
