Quick Picante-Like Sauce


I'm planning dinner Sunday night of Zucchini Egg Foo Young, Fried Rice, and Sweet & Sour Sauce, all from the Cross Family Cookbook, which means I have a bit of cooking today and tomorrow to make the recipes ahead of them.

In a blender combine:


  • 3 T green onion

  • 1-3 jalapeno peppers, chopped (as many as you like)

  • 1 can tomatoes, undrained

  • 1 1/2 T vinegar

  • 1/8 t garlic powder

  • 1/8 t cumin

  • 1/2 t sugar

  • 1/2 t salt

Process until coarsely chopped. Makes about 2 cups.


This was good. I had it on scrambled eggs for lunch.
