I had leftover apple slices from the Apple Pudding, so decided to continue on this morning. This recipe was a little more challenging, but not difficult. My first three ingredients did not get
crumbly, probably because I had to take a cube out of butter out of the freezer, and I defrosted it in the microwave until half of it was melted. I added another 1/4 cup of soft butter, which helped. I spread the mostly floury-sugary mixture in the bottom of an ungreased pan. I turned the leftover apple slices into chopped apples.Next I mixed everything else together and placed that batter
gently over the floury-sugary base. It baked the entire 35 minutes.
When it was done, I was concerned that the sides were sticking to the ungreased pan. I slid a knife around the sides several times. When I took the finished cake out of the pan, the bottom did not stick, to my great relief.
I had to remind myself that both of this morning's dishes are dessert, not breakfast foods!
